چکیده
This study investigates the capability of high and medium spatial resolution ocean color satellite data to monitor transport suspended particulate matter (SPM) along a continuum from river mouth plume. An existing switching algorithm combining use green, red near-infrared wavebands was improved retrieve SPM concentrations over very wide range (from 1 more than 1000 g.m−3) encountered such continuum. The method applied time series OLI, MSI, MODIS data. Satisfactory validation results were obtained even at gauging station. liquid discharge is not only related concentration station mouth, but also turbid plume area mass estimated within surface overall highlight potential combined field observations fluxes discharged by rivers into coastal ocean.

Remote sensing of suspended sediments and shallow coastal waters
Ocean color sensors were designed mainly for remote sensing of chlorophyll concentrations over the clear open oceanic areas (Case 1 water) using channels between 0.4–0.86 m. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) launched on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Terra and Aqua spacecrafts is equipped with narrow channels located within a wider wavelength range bet...
متن کاملOptical Properties of Inorganic Suspended Solids and Their Influence on Coastal Ocean Color Remote Sensing
S The influence of the optical properties of inorganic suspended solids (ISS) on in-water algorithms was evaluated using an optical model in highly turbid coastal water, whose ISS concentration reached several hundred grams per cubic metre. The measurements were conducted in the upper Gulf of Thailand. The backscattering coefficient of the ISS was calculated using the Lorenz–Mie scattering theo...
متن کاملRemote Sensing of Tidal Situation by Monitoring Changes in Suspended Sediment Concentration in Surface Waters
Collecting information on suspended sediments concentration (SSC) in coastal waters and estuaries is vital for proper management of coastal environments. Traditionally, SSC used to be measured by time consuming and costly point measurements. This method allows the accurate measurement of SSC only for a point in space and time. Remote sensing from air-borne and space-borne sensors have proved to...
متن کاملBayesian Methodology for Ocean-color Remote Sensing
The inverse ocean color problem, i.e., the retrieval of marine reflectance from top-of-atmosphere (TOA) reflectance, is examined in a Bayesian context. The solution is expressed as a probability distribution that measures the likelihood of encountering specific values of the marine reflectance given the observed TOA reflectance. This conditional distribution, the posterior distribution, allows ...
